When It Feels Like Delay

I’ve been thinking a lot about the times in life that feel slow.

You’re showing up. You’re praying. You’re trying to stay faithful. But everything feels stuck. Nothing is opening. Nothing is shifting. It feels like you’re just sitting in the waiting room while life passes by.

And it’s frustrating.

But I’ve come to realize that what feels like a delay on the outside is often God doing a deep work on the inside.

He’s not just making you wait. He’s pouring something into you.

God is not in a rush

We are. We want things fast. Results. Progress. Something to post about. Some kind of evidence that we’re not wasting our time.

But God cares more about who you’re becoming than how fast you’re getting there.

And sometimes, the only way to build real depth is through silence. Through slowness. Through seasons that feel uneventful, but are actually heavy with purpose.

James 1:4 says,

“Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

That verse has been a quiet anchor for me. Patience isn’t just about surviving time. It’s about what that time is doing in you. Maturing you. Completing you. Filling the gaps.

You can’t fake substance

You can’t fake what only God can form.

You can fake boldness. You can fake good branding. You can even fake spiritual lingo.

But you cannot fake what has been forged in the quiet with God.

You can’t borrow oil at the last minute. And you can’t download depth.

Some things are only built when no one is watching. When no one is clapping. When it’s just you and God and a whole lot of silence.

That’s where real substance grows.

And when the time comes, you won’t have to perform. You’ll just pour from what’s already in you.

This season is not useless

If it feels like you’re stuck, maybe you’re not stuck. Maybe you’re being filled. Maybe God is digging deeper than you realize. Maybe He’s making sure the foundation can hold what’s coming.

Let Him.

Because when your time comes, you’ll be glad you didn’t rush out of this one.

It’s not wasted.

He’s pouring something into you that won’t break when the pressure comes.
